Havi responds to reports of seeking for DPP post

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Nelson Havi has responded to reports of seeking for the position of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
A newspaper article named Havi as one of those seeking to succeed Noordin Haji, who moved over to the position of Director General, National Intelligence Service (NIS).
In a tweet, the former LSK boss who is currently serving as chairman of the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) denied claims that he is seeking to be appointed the next DPP.
"Media houses and journalists have a duty to report accurately. The publication by The Standard is false. I have not applied nor will I apply for the position of DPP. I continue offering legal services in my firm, Havi & Company Advocates, and serving the public as Chairman of RBA," he said.
Havi vied for position of Wetlands MP on President William Ruto's United Democtratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket, during last year's general polls.
He lost to incumbent, ODM's Tim Wanyonyi.
Some Kenyans on social media have linked lawyer Joshua Miguna Miguna to the DPP position.
A week ago, Ruto appointed a 7-member committee to champion the recruitment exercise of a new DPP.
Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU-K) Secretary General Francis Atwoli, is among the members.
Interested and qualified candidates have until 12th July, 2023 to submit their applications.
