Francis Atwoli on Sunday landed an international position.
The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU-K) Secretary General Francis Atwoli, was unanimously elected as the Vice Chairperson of the Workers' Group of the International Labour Conference (ILC).
The election was held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Before his appointment, Atwoli was serving as International Labour Organization (ILO) titular member.
"It meets annually, bringing together the tripartite delegations from the organization's 187 Member States and a number of observers from other international actors to consider a series of topics related to the world of work, placed on its agenda by the Organization's governing body," COTU said in a statement on Monday.
The vocal trade unionist will serve under Catelene Passchier from the Netherlands, who was elected the Chairperson.
Atwoli has been a mainstay at COTU, having held the position of Secretary General for over 15 years.
