By Peter Ochieng

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz will next month make a debut in the CAF Confederations cup.

Homeboyz beat Tusker FC 1-0 in the Mozzart Bet Cup on 1st July, 2023 to qualify for the second tier CAF tournament.

The Kakamega based side has been drawn against El Hilal of Libya, in the first round of the Confederation Cup.

The draw was held in Egypt on Tuesday.

First round matches will be played in home and away format, between August 18 and 27, 2023.

Homeboyz will host the first leg between August 18 and 20, before the Libyan side plays host to the second leg between August 25 and 27, 2023.

Homeboyz FC will be the sole representative of Kenya in the CAF tournaments during the 2023/2024 season.

This is after FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia were disqualified from the CAF champions league,  after failing the club licensing rules, occassioned by failure to pay to former players.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards have appointed Tom Juma the new head coach, ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

Juma served as assistant coach to the departed coach, Belgian Patrick Aussems.

Aussems announced departure from the club early this month.

Juma will be deputized by former Wazito FC head coach Fred Ambani.
