“Earlier today, I met with Jimmy Kibaki & committed to strengthening our already strong personal & political relationship. We also discussed the forthcoming August General. lection 2022. We committed to working together & ensuring that remains stable, peaceful & prosperous” the Wiper party leader said in a tweet.
The meeting comes at a time there have been concerns and questions over Kalonzo Musyoka’s willingness to help and campaign for the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
Since officially declaring support for the coalition, Kalonzo has not joined the team on the campaign trail raising eyebrows.
Interestingly, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua who was the last to join the coalition a few days ago has already hit the ground running, joining Raila for a recent visit to Western Kenya.
Kalonzo’s absence from Azimio la Umoja Coalition campaigns has attracted mixed reactions, and giving room for rumors from Kenyans and political pundits.
“Must be frustrating and energy-sapping for H.E UHURU to fix for Hon Raila the myriad problems he face is clobbering together a viable coalition. Look at the least headache of Hon Kalonzo Musyoka refusing to campaign for Raila unless he is formally announced as the running mate!,” senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdulahi tweeted on Wednesday.
But according to ODM director of communications Phillip Etale, Kalonzo is solidly in Azimio la Umoja.
“With Omwami @skmusyoka on board and solidly in Azimio, even the attempts by Arap Machozi to woo the good brilliant people of Ukambani will be like the strumming a guitar for goats to dance,” Etale tweeted.
