West Mugirango MP, Stephen Mogaka has categorically stated he will never be party to rogue protestors who destroy people’s hard earned investments and other infrastructure developments benefiting citizens.

Mogaka made the declarartion at Motagara Girls secondary school while presiding over a prize giving ceremony for students who sat the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) asserting that protestors who are out to destroy people’s property and other investments are criminals and will not be tolerated.

“Kenyans are struggling to engage in small businesses to make ends meet amidst current tough economic times where the majority can hardly afford three meals a day yet some scoundrels accept to be bribed to destroy these traders’ shops or operating premises and loot their wares. This scenario disorients them financially leaving them hopeless because no one will compensate them for these huge losses incurred,” Mogaka commented.

“Burning of vehicle tyres on our tarmac roads is unacceptable because we shall have hundreds of potholes on our smooth riding roads and the government will be forced to spend millions of money to repair these roads, derailing development when such monies could have been used to initiate new development projects.” Mogaka explained.

He explained that protests are allowed in our constitution and they entail peaceful secured processions but not destroying property.

“It is our people who will suffer uncompensated losses including loss of lives. Let us resolve our differences amicably and present our petitions for unsatisfactory services procedurally and peacefully because our country is bigger than individual needs,” the MP implored.

“I condemn destructive demonstrations in the strongest terms possible because its outcome is more detrimental and does not help in solving the real problem at hand,” Mogaka said.

He further stated that he supported the current Finance Act because he is sure to be allocated resources which will be used to initiate development projects in the constituency which will benefit even the most vulnerable groups in the community.

The Azimio la Umoja One political coalition proponents led by Raila Odinga had called for three-day countrywide demonstrations this week since Wednesday which has led to loss of lives, and property, injury of several people, and stalled normal day-to-day operations in most towns in the country.
