Karua congratulates Wamuchomba for opposing finance bill

Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has recieved praise from an unlikely source.
Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua congradulated the former radio presenter for standing her ground against the Finance Bill, 2023 despite being on the side of the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance. Karua is a member of Azimio, having deputised Raila Odinga in the August 9th presidential contest.
"Congrats Wamuchomba for your firm stand in articulating your constituents and views of a majority of Kenyans. A true representative of the people," Karua said in a tweet.
On Wednesday, Wamuchomba was among 81 MPs who voted against the finance bill, 2023 which has been opposed by Azimio leader Raila Odinga and sections of his foot soldiers.
While opposing the bill, Wamuchomba termed it as oppressive and punitive.
She dared President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to kick her out of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party for her strong stand.
"I have gone to my people in Githunguri Constituency and they have told me very loudly that the government of Kenya through the Finance Bill proposal 2023 is punitive, it is oppressive and it is scandalous," said the MP.
"For the welfare of the society and the government of the people of Kenya, I, Gathoni wa muchomba, and people of Githunguri, arise to say a big no and oppose this scandalous oppressive bill."
Kenya Kwanza MPs who opposed the bill are expected to face disciplinary action.
The same applies to their counterparts in Azimio who voted in favour of the bill.
