Kiambu County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha yesterday officially launched the first National Government Development – Kiambu County Implementation Coordination and Management Committee (NGD-CICMC).
The Kiambu CICMC will spearhead and monitor activities to ensure all the national government development projects and programmes are implemented successfully.
The County commissioner Joshua Nkanatha noted that although it has taken a while to put the committee in place from the time the current government was elected into office.
Nkanatha assured that the move will ensure that no government projects stalling or are mismanaged because of unethical practices.
“We want all the contractors and the government agencies who have been implementing programs and projects to make sure that everything is done according to the standards,” he said.
Nkanatha further warned the Heads of Departments that the coordination and management committee meetings will be a must-attend for Heads of Departments.
“In the future, we are not going to tolerate any agency which is not going to be represented here and we will not entertain lack of representation. I am warning those departments that normally send us Junior officers who cannot make decisions that they should ensure they attend the meeting and if not seek permission from my office,” he reiterated.
During the launch, Georgina Njoroge of the NGD-CICMC Kiambu took the heads of various Departments through the guidelines that will be followed during the execution of the monitoring process and delivering on reports that have to be prepared giving progress reports of the projects, their delivery and effective implementation.
During the meeting, the Kiambu chapter also formed 5 sub- committees as guided in the guidelines namely the Finance and Production Economy, Infrastructure, Land and Natural Resources, Social Sectors and Governance and Public Administration which encompasses Heads of Departments in the various categories.
The Sub Committees will establish a coordination mechanism with the state departments for performance and delivery management
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, the County Commission lauded security officers in Githunguri Sub County who Wednesday evening made a breakthrough after arresting three suspects suspected to have been vandalizing transformers and other road infrastructures in the country.
On the various recruitment exercises that are going on Countrywide be it military, police or even teachers, Nkanatha promised that in Kiambu they will ensure fairness and transparency.
“We will make sure that the normal practices in any recruitment process taking place in this country are followed to the letter,” he said.
