Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang'wa has passionately defended Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, describing the ongoing impeachment efforts as politically motivated attacks aimed at damaging Gachagua’s reputation and destabilizing the government.

In a recent interview on Spice FM, Thang'wa revealed that some lawmakers are allegedly attempting to undermine Gachagua by fabricating accusations.

He stated, "You can hear someone say, 'I have a letter from KRA [Kenya Revenue Authority] demanding this and that ... I have a business that they would send people to investigate.' When the government wants to dig into something, all allegations come out."

Thang'wa expressed his discontent over what he labeled as hypocrisy among certain political figures, accusing them of aligning with business interests and powerful factions by supporting the impeachment efforts.

"That is what I call hypocrisy of the highest order. You rush to appease certain groups to protect their businesses or finances. It’s all about intimidation,” Thang'wa commented.

He dismissed the allegations driving the impeachment as unfounded and solely political, asserting, "The claims used for this impeachment are nothing but political theatrics. They aren't based on facts but rather stem from a desire to undermine his position and disrupt government unity."

As the impeachment debate heats up, Thang'wa's remarks contribute to the increasing tension surrounding Gachagua’s role in government.

His staunch support for the Deputy President underscores the growing divide within the political landscape, with some lawmakers firmly backing Gachagua, while others continue to advocate for his removal.
