A section of Members of the Kisii County Assembly is planning to table a motion before the assembly on the rising insecurity in the county following attacks on some of the MCAs.

This follows an incident where armed robbers entered the home of Bobaracho MCA, Ibrahim Ongubo, but fled after residents raised an alarm an incident that left residents in a shock.

Addressing the media at the County Assembly premises, the Leader of Minority Dennis Ombachi feared the attacks whose motives are yet to be known, had caused fear amongst the MCAs.

He claimed the leaders felt intimidated in their legislative role and vowed to raise the issue in the assembly and petition President William Ruto to provide them with security.

Nominated MCA Lilian Gor termed the recent attacks as barbaric adding the hostilities have been extended to boda boda operators and vegetable vendors.

She called for the area security committee to identify the perpetrators and hold them to account as a lesson to others.

On his part, Kisii Central MCA Wilfred Monyenye, claimed the insecurity was rife in urban centers and rural areas and urged the two levels of government to act as a matter of urgency.

Jim Kenyanya (Tabaka ward) accused the law enforcers of laxity which had allegedly rendered the wave of crime a normal trend.

The county assembly Speaker, Philip Nyanumba concurred with the sentiments of the members and urged them to fast-track the drafting and tabling of the motion for deliberations.

“It is high time those in charge of maintaining security pulled up their socks,” he remarked.
