Police in Kisumu County are on the spot for allegedly failing to unravel the kidnapping and assumed drowning of a student who was recently reported missing.
Relatives of the missing form four students are up in arms and have been camping at the central police station for answers after one of the suspected kidnappers was being held to help with investigations.
The mother of the students told KNA that by the time of going to press they were not informed of any development pertaining to the missing child.
“Up to this moment we don’t know and we are yet to establish whether the student was murdered but according to the suspect, the student was alive although he could not ascertain his current location” she retorted.
The widowed lady claimed that her child who is in form four was allegedly drowned and killed but authorities were withholding the information and had even restrained her from speaking out about the incident.
“I have been camping at the police station in vain until the officers started throwing teargas canisters to force us out of the area making us wonder what wrong have we done to warrant such barbaric act” she lamented.
But Deputy OCPD of Kisumu Central Mr. Jacktone Mangu however revealed that the suspect was yet to disclose the whereabouts of the abducted learner with investigations still underway.
The incidents had drawn sharp criticism from the residents of Nyalenda who have accused the police of slackening on their Job.
“The child was reported missing on Friday but the security organs have done nothing towards resolving the case this has been a trend of rotten insecurity generally within Kisumu and that’s why we are telling our governor that its time he acted to change the security face of Kisumu,” George Owuor, an irate resident demanded.
The Nyalenda residents have blamed the Police accusing them of excessive laxity on their job
“It’s shocking that a kid would be kidnapped and killed in the full glare of the security whose only best is to teargas irate residents and it’s my plea to all residents of Nyalenda that we come out and demand action starting with overhauling the police staff that we have” added Owuor.
