LemFi Money Transfer Services Launched in Kenya

An International money transfer service branded ‘LemFi’ has been unveiled in Kenya to allow the diaspora community in the United Kingdom, United States and Canada use the app to send and receive money.
LemFi, a cross-border payment solution is a product bought to the market by LemFi Company, formerly known as Lemonade Finance, targets over 500,000 Kenyans living in the diaspora with the United States, United Kingdom and Canada being among the most popular destinations instantly at the best forex rates.
Customers can access the services by downloading the LemFi app which enables them to send funds directly into bank and mobile money accounts at zero fees. The app also supports the use of multiple currencies through various wallets that customers can open and deposit money in different accounts.
The LemFi app is used by thousands of Africans in Canada and the UK to send money back home to Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and seven other African countries and is currently available in the USA.
Speaking at the launch in Nairobi, LemFi Country Manager Kakea Mbacha said the operations in Kenya will be supported by the company’s world class partner, Pesa Swap, a local online and mobile payment solutions company.
“Our services will not attract any fees as we strive to ensure that Kenyans in the diaspora can send money home instantly, at the best rates. This is the brand’s promise”, said Mbacha.
He added that the app also provides for a Kenya shillings wallet setup which customers can open and fund their accounts via mobile money.
“Once open, the customer can easily change their Kenya Shillings to other currencies like USD, GBP and CAD depending on their transactions,” said Mbacha.
In his remarks, the Pesa Swap Chief Executive Officer Chris Munyasya observed that diaspora remittances have grown tremendously in the last financial year with 50 percent of the money being sent by women.
“We need to empower our people to access money transfer services at affordable rates so that they can keep the cash flowing back home,” he stated.
During the event, LemFi selected talented comedian Blessed Njugush as the LemFi brand ambassador to promote the company’s services and products amongst the Kenyan diaspora.
LemFi, was founded in 2020 with a vision to empower the diaspora community seeking to achieve more in their lives.
