Tharaka Nithi Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has elected new leaders to carry on with activities that will offer legal solutions to residents.

Due to the low number of law practitioners in the County, the outgoing leadership team has served for about eight years with a record of developments in the sector.

Speaking at Chuka law court grounds during the elections, the new Tharaka Nithi LSK Chairman Ms. Faith Japan Mutua said that they have several projects underway and that their goal is to work towards achieving those objectives.

She revealed that the new team would partner with religious institutions and the community to enlighten people on the legal systems and services in Kenya.

“One of our major responsibilities will be to provide legal aid to churches, mosques, and the community and offer free guidance on how to hire a lawyer,” she said.

The team disclosed that they were ready for the new challenge of providing legal help to residents in the County.

“We are ready for the challenge and as the incoming leaders, we are young and energetic people and this means that we are progressive. We are approachable and we will be there to offer help to the people of Tharaka Nithi County,” Muriithi Kanampiu, a lawyer added.

The former Secretary General Kijaru Benson advised the new team to ensure the opening of new high courts at Kathwana and Chogoria.

He noted that they have handed over the tools of power to the newly elected leaders adding that they should work with commitment and dedication to the people as well as those practicing law within the County.
