Makueni benefits from a modern road rescue emergency vehicle

Makueni has received a major boost in responding to road traffic accidents along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway after getting a new design Road Traffic Accident Response Vehicle.

The vehicle is equipped with an ambulance body for emergency medical services, two hydraulic pumps, a hydraulic cutter, a ram and spreader, trauma bags, and Firefighting equipment and will be stationed at Makindu fire station.

The vehicle flagged off by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior aims to save lives and property in case of road accidents along the busy highway.

“Using this vehicle, we will be able to save more lives at times of road accidents and fire outbreaks, by providing first aid to the victims and rushing them to the hospital for further treatment,” said Mutula after flagging off the emergency vehicle on Thursday at his wote office.

Mutula lauded the Polish Centre for International Aid for donating the vehicle noting that the modern equipment in the vehicle will be able to tow motor vehicles after accidents, besides being used as an ambulance.

The personnel who will be operating the vehicle have been trained on road traffic accident techniques and basic life support skills.

On his part Chairman chief fire officers Association (CFOA) Mr. Samuel Kahura said the vehicle will strengthen the county’s response to road accidents.

The vehicle will serve the162 km stretch between Mtito Andei - Malili area of the highway in Makueni.
