Market Manager commits suicide

Residents of Magumoni Market in Tharaka Nithi County have been left in shock, after their Area Manager committed suicide under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased, John Micheni Boore, who was Area Manager for Magumoni Shopping Centre, within Thuita Sub-location took away his life, Friday, in yet to be established circumstances.

Confirming the incident, Thuita Sub-location Assistant Chief, Charles Gitonga, said the deceased hanged himself from an avocado tree.

Gitonga further explained that the motive for the drastic action remains unknown, since no suicide note was found.

The Assistant Chief said that he received a call from a neighbour at around 6.00 am, yesterday morning after the deceased wife found his body hanging from a tree in their compound.

Gitonga described the deceased as a wise person and a problem solver who helped resolve various disputes in the area among other issues.

“He rendered great service to the community, he has been the Area Manager for more than 20 years until his demise. He was unwell last week, but sought medical help and was discharged after treatment,’’ said the Assistant Chief.

The area residents described the late Boore as a jovial person, who was always ready to help, saying that they were left in utter shock and disbelief after learning about the unfortunate incident.

 One of the residents, Eric Murungi said, “We are very saddened by the tragic news, Boore was a great man.’’

The body of the deceased was moved to Chuka County Referral Hospital mortuary.
