Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka has hit out at Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria over his offensive remarks about the rise in fuel prices terming them unfortunate.
Kuria had argued that the whole world is aware that the prices of crude oil have gone up and told Kenyans who are complaining about fuel prices to drill their own oil wells.
Speaking at a Sunday Mass in his Constituency, Wamboka said that President Ruto’s government has failed terribly to address the challenges affecting Kenyans.
He said it is unethical for some cabinet secretaries to intimidate Kenyans yet they are the ones who put them in power.
“The President should tame his executives because we are unhappy with how some of them are addressing and responding to questions in their respective dockets,” he said.
The DAP-K MP also blamed President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua for scrapping the oil subsidy after assuming office noting that the oil subsidy was of immense help to the locals and more so the boda boda and business people.
“Everything has gone up because of the increased fuel prices, the head of state should move very fast and address this menace,” he said.
He said the hiked kerosene prices have made life impossible for the ordinary citizen.
“Please President Ruto, find an amicable solution to the problems affecting us,” Wamboka noted.
The opposition MP also called on President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to scale down on international trips and instead remain in the country and work for Kenyans.
“As I speak today Ruto and his deputy are out of the country yet Kenyans are suffering, they should also minimize the overseas trips,” he said.
The MP revealed that he has received threats from top government officers to stop attacking the government.
“I have been called severally, threatened and given an offer to join the government but I cannot make such a move because I am there to keep Ruto’s administration in check,” he said.
"I will not relent on advising this government where it goes wrong,” vowed Wamboka.
A number of Bungoma MPs have too requested Wamboka to stop attacking Ruto's government all the time.
Led by Sirisia MP John Waluke, the MPs told Wamboka that Bungoma was part of the current government and he should stop fighting it on a daily basis.
"We are in government and when you attack it, you are attacking Speaker Wetang’ula,” Waluke said.
Waluke, who is also the chairman of Western Kenya MPs’ caucus, told Wamboka that he should not attack the government yet at the same time want development from it.
However, Wamboka who is a DAP-Kenya MP vowed to sustain positive criticism of the government.
