Mtito Andei Health centre receives equipment worth Sh 11 million

Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in collaboration with their Global Networks, have donated equipment worth Sh 11 million to Mtito Andei Health Centre in Kibwezi East Sub county.
Among the equipment donated to the health centre include Bed linen (20 sets), stretchers (5), bed with mattresses (20), drug trolley machine (3), new-born resuscitate machine, portable ultrasound machine, portable X Ray machine, dressing trolley (5), automated chemistry analyser, laundry machine industrial washer (2) and automated hematology analyser.
Other equipment were a Chroma machine, electric microscope, freezer 200 litres (4), No frost fridge (4), standby generator, drip stands –infusion (10), baby incubators for preterm (5), oxygen concentrator (3) and a dental chair.
“We sincerely trust the provision of these vital resources will significantly contribute to the improvement of healthcare services at the health facility,” said a Director with Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Mr Robert Shedrick while handing over the equipment at the Mtito Andei health Centre on Wednesday.
“This assistance is important to the hospital, we shall continue assisting the community where we can,” said Sheldrick, who is involved in the conservation matters especially at Chyulu National Park.
On conservation, he called for concerted efforts from all people in a bid to conserve the environment that he said is being destroyed each day.
“We have one Earth only, we should not destroy it because we don’t have an alternative,” reiterated Shedrick.
“This assistance has come from donors who have the same message of conserving our environment. Our environment brings rain and gives us food, I pray this message reaches all,” he said.
Speaking at the same event, Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr said that he will elevate the hospital to Level 4 besides increasing the number of workers like nurses and doctors at the health facility.
While thanking the donors for the donation, Mutula welcomed more partners to the county while adding that his government will work with all partners to uplift the lives of the people of Makueni.
“My government through the health department will work closely with Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and other partners to ensure the provision of health services to our people is improved,” said Mutula.
On conservation, he urged more organizations to work closely with conservationists like Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in improving the environment.
