Nandi Senator arrested

By Peter Ochieng Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has been arrested. The legislature was arrested on Thursday afternoon in Nairobi. The reason for his arrest is yet to be established. However, it may be linked to a hate speech case that is currently in court against him. He initially denied the charges. The arrest comes a few days after he won the bid to vie for the Nandi Senate seat for a second term, by emerging victorious in the just concluded United Democratic Alliances (UDA) primaries. He was elected in 2017, taking over from Stephen Sang who ran and won the Nandi County gubernatorial seat. “It seems after the first Azimio Council Meeting they made a deliberation to arrest Senator Samson Cherargei to settle POLITICAL SCORES. They are back to torment us using ARRESTS and INTIMIDATIONS but it WON'T work NEITHER. The DIE is ALREADY CAST. Kenya Kwanza is the WAY!” said Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula. It has not been determined whether Senator Cherargei has been released or not.
