Police in Nanyuki, Laikipia county have launched investigations into the murder of a boda-boda rider and the subsequent stealing of his motorcycle.

Confirming the incident, Laikipia East sub county police commander, John Tarus said, the victim, identified as Yusuf Edi Mohammed, was operating in Nanyuki town and those suspected to have killed him had disguised themselves as customers.

His body was found lying along Nanyuki -Rumuruti highway. “We got information that somebody had been killed along Rumuruti highway. He was a boda boda rider and was killed and his motorcycle stolen. The scene of crime indicated there was a struggle,” said Tarus.

Tarus said the motorcycle had a tracking system whose signal showed it was first moved to Segera location.

“Upon tracking it, we found the signals around Segera. We suspect they noticed and hence disconnected the tracking device,” added the police commander.
