National Police Service (NPS) spokesperson Bruno Shioso, has assured Kenyans that security will be heightened across the country ahead of a number of events in the month of April.

A number of activities are in pipeline of which the police have said that the criminals may take advantage during the busy time to carry out unlawful activities hence the enhanced security measures.

“We have started enhancing the security measures for the busy month ahead so as to nub the criminals who are planning to disrupt the peace in the country. We are doing jobs which are in line with the police mandate to serve and protect” Shioso stated. The events include the Easter and Ramadhan festivities as well as the Africa Rally Championship (ACR) and political rallies.

Others are the continuing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

In the same month, there will be an African Rally Championship (ARC) which will take place at Naivasha later in the month hence need for security. Shioso feared that the occasions might provide criminals.

“The National Police Service with its associates within the multi-agency framework have taken adequate measures to provide security in all public spaces,” The police spokesperson noted.

He further revealed that, arrangements have been made to secure major urban areas including all critical infrastructure and places of interest.

The surveillance has so far been enhanced and intelligence capabilities against suspicious personalities and organized rings
