Okame TTI student crowned Miss Teso South 2023

Winnie Asere, a 27 year old 1st Year student from Okame TTI studying Beauty therapy and Frasia Kinyanjui, 21 years second year student at Alupe University studying Physiotherapy who will represent Teso South subcounty for Miss Busia Tourist.

A 27-year-old Okame Technical Training Institute student of Beauty and Therapy was crowned Miss Teso South 2023.

Winnie Asere, a 27-year-old 1st Year student from Okame TTI who is a beauty therapist captured the eyes of the judges from her eloquence and wide smile that added beauty to her walking style.

Asere was chosen from among 12 contestants in a hotly contested event at the sub county in readiness for the county championship on 30th June at Border Palace.

Frasia Kinyanjui, 21 years second year student at Alupe University studying Physiotherapy joined Asere and the two will represent Teso South sub-county as they battle it out with other beauty queens from the six sub- counties for Miss Busia 2023.

While giving her sentiments after being announced sub county champion, Asere noted that she eyes the county crown to represent Busia at the national level.

“My target is to represent Busia at national level. I have learnt that the best thing you can do to maintain a healthy mental and emotional lifestyle is treating yourself in a healthy manner,” Asere said.

Speaking on behalf of the governor’s wife, Happy Gloria said Miss Tourism aims at promoting the county of Busia at national level and beyond.

The county Department of Sports, Culture, Youth and Social Services is still scouting for Miss Tourism Busia.

Two ladies who will be picked from each Sub- county making a total of 14 girls will enter into the final contest come 30th June 2023 where one will represent Busia as Miss Tourism.

In the other contest, Cynthia Dayo and Joan Amojong were selected to represent Teso North Sub-county for the vast region in Miss Tourism Busia County finals at the end of this month.

Misses Dayo (22-years-old) and Amojong (23) convinced the judges in the contest of their prowess on the stage while remaining articulate in pertinent issues asked.

A 23-year old Faith Amina Aporong, a graduate from Kabianga University and Diana Issa 25, will represent Butula sub county.

Tourism Acting Director Charles Juma said Miss Tourism is all about showcasing talents among youths and leveraging on the same to eke a living.

“Our girls are very brilliant and beautiful and can compete anywhere in the Country. I am very proud of them,” said Juma.
