One drowns, another missing in Bomet

One person has been confirmed dead after he drowned in Bomet County’s Mulot section of the Mara River Sunday.

This is According to Bomet County disaster manager Stanley Mutai who also revealed that another person is suspected to have drowned at Uswet section of Nyongores River.

Mutai said the Mulot victim was reported to have slipped into the river as he attempted to draw water using plastic containers and his body was recovered by the county divers who he said were also searching for the Uswet victim in collaboration with the Kenya Red cross officials.

He said the body was moved to Longisa County referral hospital morgue.

Mutai cautioned residents along riparian areas as well those residing in low grounds to be alert in the wake of expected heavy floods, following the anticipated El-nino rains starting this October.

He said those at risk should be evacuated to avoid damage of property and at worst loss of lives.
