Controversial Pastor Paul Mackenzie has been found guilty of possessing inciting films against non-Christians.
According to the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the case against Mackenzie was proved beyond doubt, by prosecution’s Joseph Mwangi.
“Paul Mackenzie has today been found guilty of being in possession and distributing films which have not been classified and operating a filming studio without a valid filming licence. Prosecution's Joseph Mwangi proved the case.”
The case will be mentioned on December 1st, 2023. “Court also ordered that a pre-sentence report be filed by the probation and aftercare services to capture the sentiments of the complainant, which is the prosecution. The case will be mentioned on 1st Dec. 2023.”
Paul Mackenzie, leader of the Good News International “Church” has been behind bars since his arrest in April, 2023. He is in for allegations of leading his followers to ‘a fast to death in order to meet Jesus.’ The ‘fast to death’ took place in Shakahola Forest, in Kilifi County.
Those who failed the test and died along the way were buried in the vast forest. Exhumation exercise led by government agencies discovered more than 390 bodies.
In June, Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary for Interior warned that Mackenzie will rot in jail for atrocities committed against his followers, from all over Kenya and parts of the World.
"Mackenzie will not get out of jail, he will age in there. We pray that God gives him more years to see Kenya's security prosper. He will not get out of jail. Mackenzie will meet the wrath of God after jail," said Kindiki. "That one suspect in Shakahola has killed more people than those killed by Al- Shabaab in Kenya in the last 10 years. At Garrissa University, 148 people were killed and the Dusit attack claimed 21 lives,” he added.
He warned that even if the controversial Pastor was set free by the courts, he would still be arrested.
