Police have launched investigations into the death of a middle-aged man who was found dead in a sewer line near Sukari Industries in Ndhiwa Sub County.
Ndhiwa Sub County Police Boss Paul Rioba said the man identified as Linsey Ochieng was found dead in a sewer line near River Kuja in South Kanyikela Location. He said his lower limbs were in the sewage while his head lay on the land.
According to the deceased’s father John Adika, Ochieng had gone missing for five days before his body was discovered.
He said the head had visible injuries which raised suspicion that he might have been assaulted prior to his death.
“The physical look at the serious injuries on his head convinced us that my son was killed. We could not ascertain the level of injuries on the lower parts of the body because they had begun decomposing,” Adika said.
He said that Ochieng left home at Ligodho village in West Kanyadoto location on Monday which made his family worried before they began looking for his whereabouts.
“His absence without any communication made us worried. We began looking for him but we did not reach him via his mobile phone,” Adika said.
He said the deceased was the sole breadwinner for his two widows and seven children and called on police to speed up investigations into the incident.
“We appeal to our law enforcement agencies to get to the bottom of this,” Adika added.
Rioba said investigations into the matter had been commenced and the cause of the death would be revealed once an autopsy is conducted.
“The body was partly decomposed hence it was difficult to know whether he died of injuries or not. This will be known through the postmortem,” Rioba.
The body was moved to Manyatta Kobodo Hospital mortuary.
