The Post-Bank Kenya and a Non-Government Organization from Isiolo County have launched a partnership programme which will support school girls’ education and empower them in financial matters after school.

The bank and the Merti Integrated Development Project (MID-P) aim at boosting inclusion of young girls through opening of bank accounts where any financial benefit can be channeled through and have a savings culture which would enable them to invest without difficulty.

The Mt. Kenya Post-Bank Regional Manager Mr. Sospeter Kwitya said the partnership aimed at teaching young people, mostly girls to manage and open their accounts with the financial institution from which they would get little grants to boost them economically.

Kwitya said that the bank would plough back the little interest from public savings in form of grant as the donor would boost other financial needs using the bank accounts for ease of transactions.

He added that the Post-bank is one of the most secure institutions and their customers have confessed that they enjoy transacting there since there is no congestion like other banks.

The Regional manager said that his bank has new technologies which enable customers to easily withdraw money using other banks without necessarily travelling far.

The MID-P executive Director Mr. Molu Koropu said that the bank has grown from a branch of Post office to fully fledged bank without any cases of malpractice reported about the financial institution.

Koropu said that he joined the Postbank in 1989 when he was a University student and had since remained faithful to it up to now and urged people with little incomes to open accounts with the bank.

The director challenged girls from pastoral communities to take advantage of such a program and make sure that they have reaped the maximum benefits from the bank’s services and opportunities offered there.
