President William Ruto Condoles with Ethiopians following tragic landslide

President William Samoei Ruto has extended his condolences to the people of Ethiopia following the tragic Gozdi Kebele landslide that has claimed more that 257 people.
The president has assured Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Kenya’s support during this difficult time.
"On behalf of the Government and the people of Kenya, I extend heartfelt condolences to our brothers and sisters in Ethiopia for the loss of lives in the landslide in Gozdi Kebele. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families
" We pray for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during this difficult time." He said
"Their bravery and dedication are crucial in these challenging times."He added.
Over 15,000 people have been affected by the devastating landslide while the final death toll is expected to be 500, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The figures included at least 1,320 children as well as 5,293 pregnant women and new mothers
President Ruto commended the local authorities and the Ethiopian Red Cross and the entire Government machinery for their tireless efforts in search and rescue operations.
The state Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) reported that most of those killed were buried after they went to help the inhabitants of a house hit by an initial landslide.
The UN reports that millions of people in the country face malnutrition due to climate-related challenges.
