Nyamira County crop farmers are optimistic to boost their productivity and subsequently their profitability after they used of soil testing kits.
Governor, Amos Nyaribo confirmed that the county has procured soil testing kits which will go a long way in informing farmers their soil nutrition composition and the right type of crops which do well therein including the proportionate fertilizer required for maximum crop growth and production.
“Crop farmers have perennially been planting maize and beans because it is their staple meal unawares that the soils’ nutrition components have been depleted over time and the crops’ yield have drastically dwindled. This compelled my government to initiate interventions and procure soil testing kits which will inform farmers which crop does best in their farms and concentrate on it or improve its fertility before planting any crop on it,” The county boss explained.
Nyaribo made this confirmation while giving his speech to the public at Manga Stadium.
He applauded cooperation by traders and the entire business community in the county who were complying in paying their taxes, a move which enabled the county surpass its revenue collection target of Sh. 200 million by May 2023.
“I urge Nyamira residents to continue paying taxes so that the county can generate its own-source revenue to make it possible to finance investment in human capital, infrastructure and the provision of services for residents and businesses,” appealed the governor.
The county boss reiterated that stalled development projects are due to delay in disbursement of funds from the national government, and emphasized that no new project will be initiated before the stalled ones are completed.
"I appreciate your patience and promise that once the national government disburses funds to counties, my officers in liaison with contractors shall commence implementation of development projects immediately so that I can deliver on my political manifesto. I will ensure proper measures are put in place to monitor the human resource information system so that justice and equity prevails during the payroll cleanup exercise,” Nyaribo told a Madaraka Day gathering.
