Bobasi constituency legislator Innocent Obiri Momanyi has decried sustained demonstrations by his area residents against deplorable road network in the area and accused his alleged detractors of organizing a hoax.
Speaking at a funeral at Keigamere village in Bobasi Constituency yesterday, the MP explained, the 13 Km Igare-Materio-Nyacheki road dubbed impassible, was all-weather and not as bad as claimed by locals.
Terming their claims as baseless, Obiri said he could not establish any section of the road where it was badly damaged prompting the residents to plant banana stems.
He accused his political detractors for mobilizing the section of the residents to come up with fake videos on the road on social media and mount demonstrations portraying him in poor light.
According to the law maker, the road, in Kisii County, was under the county government but had resolved to apply murram to improve its condition, only to be accused of neglecting it.
However, he assured the electorate of his commitment to ensure the road was graded pending receipt of funds from the National Treasury.
He notified his detractors that the electorate was informed and will vote for a leader of their choice, come next general elections.
Residents have often appealed to the legislator to repair the road saying it has been ignored despite torrential rains that often render it impassable.
