Religious leaders have been urged to work closely with elected leaders, with a view to addressing social problems facing residents.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony for the Catholic Bishop of Kitale, Henry Juma Odonyi, at Port Victoria in Bunyala Sub-County, Saturday, Busia Governor, Paul Otuoma, expressed that religious leaders play a very important social role in the lives of the community.
“I also pray that the Almighty God will give you the wisdom to help guide political leaders in this area, because we are also governing the children of God,” he said.
Otuoma stated that leaders from both political and religious divides, must help each other in addressing the number of problems facing the society.
“We want to see how we can help each other on how to improve food security for our people,” he said.
He exuded confidence that the church has some expertise, volunteers and wisdom and ability to reach out to their faithful.
“The County Government has set aside Sh. 130 million bursaries, which will be disabused to needy students through MCAs as MPs also disburse NGCDF bursaries,” he said.
