Scholar Brian Mutie advises Ruto to consult on Finance Bill 2023

Dr Brian Mutie,a scholar, has said Ruto has failed to listen to the lamentations of Kenyans.
This is after he proposed The Finance Bill 2023 that will the increase in taxation that is supposed to be debated on parliament.
In an interview with Citizen Tv on Friday,Dr Mutie has put clear that Ruto should consult the public on the issue of taxation changes in the bill before passed into law.
He has urged Dr Ruto to hear cries from the public and understand their complains.
At the same time,he has urged Kenyans to speak up loudly their grievances to the government.
"It is time we tell president he is named because over 50 millions Kenyans cannot be wrong when something is not right,"said Dr Mutie.
Dr Mutie,who is also a Managing Partner at Dr Mutie and Company Advocates,has again urged President William Ruto to consult the stakeholders before moving the bill to National Assembly.
He has stated that consultation will enable government to recognize where to rectify.
Furthermore, he has advised president to fully collect views from the public so that to know more about their interests.
"If I were an advisor, I think I will tell him very well that you need to look further and they need to consult widely,you need to also give space a big altitude for people to contribute in terms of their views in terms of their interest," he said.
He has opposed to Finance Bill that it will cause more pains to Kenyans since they will be overtaxed.
The Kenya Treasury Secretary has proposed changes to the Finance Bill, 2023 that will be tabled before Parliament for debate. Proposed changes would affect the imposition of income tax, value added tax, excise tax and various fees and penalties, as well as tax compliance requirements.
