Simba Arati urges Kuria 'to take little alcohol, tell Gachagua the truth'
By Peter Ochieng
Kisii governor Simba Arati believes Cabinet Secretary (CS) for trade Moses Kuria is the only person in president William Ruto's administration who can tell deputy president Rigathi Gachagua the 'truth.'
And he also believes Kuria cannot do so without 'taking a little alcohol.'
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kisii industrial park, Arati said Gachagua deserves to be told the truth, after he stated that Ruto's government is made up of shareholders, aligned to which community gave him the most votes during the August 9th 2022 polls.
"Ulevi wakati mwingine ni mzuri; mheshimiwa ukieka usieke mingi, we weka kidogo nyorosha hawa watu wengine. Moses ndio anawaambianga ukweli. Weka, uwaambie ukweli na itabaki ukweli especially huyo mtu wenu wa shares ambia yeye ukweli," Arati told Kuria.
It loosely translates to, "Taking alcohol is good sometimes; honourable, when you take don't take too much. Take a little and bring some of this people to order. Moses is the one who tells them the truth. Take alcohol and tell them the truth, because the truth will remain the truth. Especially that person who talks about shares, tell him the truth."
Wakikufukuza pande ile kuja pande hii tutashirikiana tuone vile tutachukua serikali."
"When you speak, we shall stand with you; we are in opposition but we will stand with the president and the minister when they do a good good. The person we cannot support is the one who insults us. Stay strong, we will stand with you. If they chase you, come over to this side so that we plan on how to take over the government."
Kuria and Gachagua have over the past few days directed online remarks against each other, over the increase in prices of fuel.
Last week, the CS said the price of fuel will increase by Sh10 per litre every month until February, 2024 owing to global factors.
He said those complaining about the cost of fuel should drive their own oil.
DP Gachagua responded. Although he did not name Kuria directly, he pointed to the fact that the CSs sentiments were insensitive and full of arrogance.
