Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi on Friday met Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja.
The meeting came just hours after Wanyonyi missed out on getting the ticket to fly the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition gubernatorial flag in the city.
Wanyonyi, a member of the ODM was eyeing the seat, but after what his party leader Raila Odinga said was consultations, it was agreed that Polycarp Igathe be the coalition's candidate.
The MP was also not picked as Igathe's running mate, and instead, the position was handed to former Kibwezi MP Prof. Phillip Kaloki.
However, there have been reports that Wanyonyi declined to take up the deputy governor position.
Announcing the Azimio la Umoja Nairobi lineup, the former Prime Minister said the MP had opted to defend his seat.
But in what has raised anxiety, the legislator later in the day met with Sakaja, who has been given a green light to vie for the top seat in Kenya Kwanza coalition.
Sakaja, currently the Nairobi Senator shared photos of the two meeting.
He captioned them, "Si mimi ni sisi. Let’s make Nairobi work.
#MunguMbele #Khulialala."
Tim Wanyonyi however, did not share photos of the meeting on his social media pages.
Reached for a comment over the meeting, Sakaja said he was looking forward to working together with the Westlands MP.
"We just met to consult as brothers after the decision they made. That is what happened. I am looking forward to working together with him. What we have realised is that we have the same vision, and that is more important than anything else," Sakaja said, as quoted by the Star.
A source close to the legislator however said the meeting was a coincidence.
He noted that Tim Wanyonyi was still in Azimio and that he needed time before he speaks on the Friday event.
"We just bumped into each other. The meeting was not planned. You heard what was announced today, Tim Wanyonyi is yet to speak so we have to give him time to do so. As far as I am concerned, he is still in the Azimio," the source, who sought anonymity told the Star.
