Kenyans on social media have expressed uproar on Kisumu Senator Prof. Tom Ojienda following a video that showed him commissioning a deplorable office for an assistant chief in Chako Sub-Location .
In the video, the Senator was seen cutting a ribbon to launch the office that was constructed of iron sheets and seemed not to be cemented on the floor.
"Today I declare the office of the assistant chief at Chako Sub-Location officially..." Ojienda said as he cut the ribbon while residents clapped and cheered.
The office also appeared to be empty, dark and poorly constructed.
Kenyans trolled the Senator condemning the project as others termed it as fruits of working with the Kenya Kwanza Administration.
One Netizen on X platform posted "Isn't Tom Ojienda, a whole senator not ashamed to launch a cow shed in the name of chief's office? The house has not even been cemented.
Is this all that made him ditch Raila Odinga to follow development at State House? Shame!." the Netizen said.
Ojienda who later addressed residents boasted about his efforts to ensure that roads in Chako had been constructed and defended his decision to work with the government saying that it was the only was to bring Development to the people
"I always turn to the government because the government is the only way you can bring Development to the people." Said Ojienda.
Ojienda is among the 5 MPs who had initially been suspended by the ODM party for what the party termed as violation of its constitution and working with the Kenya Kwanza regime through the back door.
Ojienda and four others namely, Felix Okiduwor Jalang'o(Langata) , Gideon Ochanda(Bondo) , Mark Nyamita (GEM) and Caroli Omondi(Suba South) were later saved from ODM’s chopping board after the Political parties dispute Tribunal issued a reprieve to their Suspension from the ODM party in order to allow more time for Investigations into the grounds of their suspension.
Ojienda was elected as Kisumu Senator on an ODM party ticket.
