Kiambu County gubernatorial hopeful Paul Kimani Wamatangi has indicated that he will choose his running mate from any community, provided the person is qualified.
Speaking on Citizen on Thursday, April 21, 2022, Wamatangi said his search for a possible deputy governor will not entail factors such as tribe or gender, settling on competency as the rule of the game.
“I am essentially looking for a very competent person who is able to agree with me largely on ideas and the plans we have. Whether it’s a man, woman or whichever community they come from, that’s what I am looking for, and I am on the prowl so you can throw in your CV," he said.
“The things that we have promised in my manifesto that we are going to do to the people of Kiambu I want a partner who can hold hands with me and make sure that we make it a reality,” he added.
The Kiambu Senator is in the race for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat, on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
He got the nod to vie of the Deputy President (DP) William Ruto led party after emerging victorious in primaries held last week.
He is in the race against incumbent Governor James Nyoro, Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria and Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu among others.
If he wins, he will become Kiambu County's fourth governor after William Kabogo, Ferdinand Waititu and James Nyoro.
