Wyclife Ochiaga appointed Lake Basin Development Authority CEO

Wycliffe Ochiaga is the new Managing Director (MD) of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA).

He will double up as the Authority's Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The appointment was done by Cabinet Secretary Ministry (CS) for East African Community, the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development Rebecca Miano.

His appointment takes effect on 29th May, 2023.

"The appointment comes following an extensive recruitment process conducted by the Board of Directors," said CS Miano in a press release.

Prior to his appointment, Ochiaga was the Director for Internal Audit and acting MD at the Lake Basin Development Authority.

"A position in which he successfully led the Authority in strengthening internal controls, corporate governance, and compliance with regulatory requirements."

He is an accountant of good standing, and a corporate governance professional with extensive exposure in both the public and private sectors.

LBDA board of directors Chairman James Waore Diang'a, expressed his appreciation to Ochiaga for his outstanding service and commitment, during his tenure as acting Managing Director.

LBDA was established by an act of Parliament in 1979, to spearhead development in the Kenyan portion of the Lake Basin.

Primarily, LBDA was established to act as a strategic driver of socio-economic development and spur regional development, through sustainable utilization and conservation of natural resources.

The Authority has its headquarters in Kisumu.
