Young Tigers Knock out Malaba Giants from Global Appeal Football Tournament

Malaba Giants who plays in FKF Division 2 were knocked out by Young Tigers who plays county league after a goalless draw in day two of the Global Appeal Football tournament round of 16 played at Busia Stadium.
Young Tigers booked a slot in quarter finals after scoring all four kicks on penalties to win 4-3 on with Kelvin Mande, Denis Opondo, Charles Oundo and Morgan Wandera netting all their goals to confirm their penalty kicks taking exploits.
Malaba Giants suffered early setback when James Sampeki’s spotkick was saved by Tigers defender-turned goalkeeper, Jacob Wangalwa. He abandoned the role of player to take goalkeeping role.
Christopher Ejakait saw his shot sail over the bar. His first shot was saved by the goalkeeper, but the referee ordered a retake over infringement. Emmanuel Osoro, Peter Watitwa and Steve Simiyu were on target.
Malaba Giants patron Bishop Abraham Omanyo and team captain said fatique cost them the match after playing three matches in two days including league match away to Luanda Sportiff which they won 2-1.
Another County league side Khwilare qualified for the last eight after upsetting Regional side, Busia Ajax 1-0 at the Busia Stadium with Benjamin Ekesa scoring the lone goal.
Fans favorite Jobless FC from the sprawling Marachi estate joined Western Region side Obucuun Border sailed through to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Obocuum outshined Mundulusia 2-0 at Busia Polytechnic grounds thanks to goals from Shawal Olulu in 20th minute and Denis Aruna in 59th minute.
The Obucuun from Among'ura in Teso South are leading in their FKF Zone with 58 points from 20 matches. Kiyoro are second with 39 points from the same number of matches, three points ahead of Enombela in third position.
OPET FC which is also participating in Division Two league secured a place in the last eight after beating Bumala Allstars 1-0 with John Omondi scoring the solitary goal. Earlier, Opet had beaten county league club Kekalet 1-0 at the same venue.
Busia stadium will play host to the men's quarterfinals today where Opet FC vs Real Busia, Jobless vs Young Tigers, Obucuun vs Khwilare and Busia Fusion vs Masters before the Winners between Opet v Real Busia meet winners between Jobless v Young Tigers with winners between Obucuun v Khwilare meeting winners between Fusion v Masters.
Ladies semi- final saw Lukolis Ladies from Teso South edged Soccer Sisters from Matayos Sub County 1-0 at Busia Polytechnic with Leah Akong'o netting the lone goal in the ninth minute.
Lukolis will now meet Busia regional flagbearers, Chakol Queens in Wednesday’s final to determine the champions. The event that attracted three teams saw Chakol Queens earn a bye to the final.
