Bodaboda rider fined ksh 9,000 for ignoring multiple traffick rules

An Eldama Ravine court today fined a middle aged man Sh 9,000 or six-month jail term after pleading guilty to charges of failing to comply with the traffic laws.
Eliud Wekesa pleaded guilty to four counts when he appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Mr. Richard Koech. For count one, he was charged with riding a motor cycle registration number KMFY 067 make boxer without a license for which he was fined Sh3,000 or three months in prison.
For the remaining counts, riding a motorcycle without a reflective jacket, riding a motor cycle without a helmet, and the last count of carrying four passengers which is not insured he was charged Sh2,000 each or one month in prison for each count.
According to the prosecution all this took place on 6th June 2023 at around 7.00am along Eldama Ravine Makutano road at Eldama Ravine police station gate area.
In his mitigation he pleaded for leniency and promised not t repeat the crime again, adding that he has children who are dependent on him, he has a loan that he is currently paying, and in case he is fined, the court should give an amount that he will be able to pay.
He was given fourteen days to appeal the judgement.
