Harambee Stars goalkeeper Bryne Omondi remains optimistic despite Kenya's recent setbacks in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

Omondi, reflecting on the team's performances in Group J, emphasized the importance of redeeming themselves in the two remaining matches against Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Kenya, currently in third place with four points, suffered two consecutive losses to Cameroon, including a narrow 1-0 defeat in their second-leg match played in Kampala.

These losses have significantly reduced their chances of advancing to the AFCON finals in Morocco, but Omondi believes the team is capable of turning things around.

In his statement, Omondi highlighted the impact of not playing in front of Kenyan fans due to match venue changes. He suggested that the home crowd could have played a crucial role in boosting the team’s morale and helping them secure vital points.

Despite these challenges, Omondi remains confident that the team can secure victories in their final two fixtures, which would give them a fighting chance to qualify for the AFCON tournament.

Kenya is set to face Zimbabwe and Namibia in November, matches that are crucial for the team’s qualification hopes. To keep their dreams alive, they need to win both games and hope for favorable results in other fixtures.

Harambee Stars will be looking to break their long winless streak against Cameroon, a team that has consistently dominated them in past encounters.

Cameroon now tops Group J with 10 points, while Zimbabwe holds second place with five points.

As Kenya prepares for these decisive matches, the team is hopeful of bouncing back and reclaiming their position in African football.
