Ezekiel Mutua responds to alleged suspension from MCSK

Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua, has issued a statement over his alleged suspension from office.
A notice doing rounds on social media claimed that Mutua had been suspended by the MCKS board, deeming him unfit to transact any business on behalf of the society.
However, Mutua in a stamen posted on his social media pages made it clear that he has neither been suspended or sacked.
“Let me therefore set the record straight: I am in office and I have neither been sacked or suspended. The bloggers who are spreading this would do better to come to the office and interview me from there.”
Mutua said MCSK is experiencing leadership wrangles, but swiftly added that the CEO’s office is not involved.
“Granted there are leadership wrangles in MCSK but they only touch on the Directors who hold elected non-executive positions,” he stated.
The CEO and staff, Mutua said, are not elected and there are clear procedures for disciplinary actions.
“When people recklessly breach these procedures, they end up causing huge losses to the company. There's currently a former CEO we are paying Sh23M for wrongful dismissal, and he wasn't even a substantive CEO. You can imagine how much I would demand from the company I was to sue these guys for making the wild sacking claims in a bar and on a weekend and spreading it all over social media.”
Mutua hinted that the ‘rain started beating him’ when as CEO, he stopped some people claiming to be directors from assuming office illegally.
“That's why we went to court and obtained court orders to stop the group from taking over the office. They have never forgiven me for stopping them on their hare-brained scheme to enter the office through the back door, and that's the reason they have resorted to this propaganda. I have instructed my lawyers to take the appropriate action,” he added. His sentiments were backed by MCSK National Chairperson Lazarus Muli, who in a statement termed the notice as “insidious propaganda."
He stated the notice was being circulated by people with ill motives.
