KCB defeats FC Talanta to bag three points

Kenya Football Kenya (KCB) football club defeated FC Talanta 2-1 to bag three important wins, as the Kenya Football Federation (FKF) Premier League action resumed after a two-week international break.
KCB took the lead in the first match, only for FC Talanta FC to equalise in the 89th minute during the tight match staged at the Dandora Stadium, in Nairobi.
The game was headed for a draw, before Maurice Owino headed in James Kinyanjui's perfect ball from a set piece in the 96th minute, bringing the much-needed relief to KCB players and members of the technical bench.
“You can now breathe!” the club declared on social media. “What an ending, what a fight to the death! In the end, the lion has conquered.”
KCB lost the first match on November 03, 2024, just before the international break.
With the win against FC Talanta, the bankers remain at the top of the Premier League with 20 points after 9 rounds of matches, courtesy of 6 wins and two draws.
Newbies Mara Sugar FC are second with 15 points, but have a game in hand.
By the time of going to press, third placed Kariobangi Sharks were battling Police FC at the Dandora stadium.
Four matches will be played on Saturday, before two more are staged on Sunday.

The much anticipated ‘Mashemeji Derby’ between archrivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards which was set for Sunday, has been postponed due to an availability of a venue.
The match was to be staged at Nyayo National Stadium, but Sports Kenya announced that the venue is not available due to the ongoing renovations in preparations for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), 2025.
