Family identifies body of Missing Taxi driver Victoria Mumbua Muloki

The family of slain Taxi Driver, Victoria Mumbua Muloki, who was reported missing a week ago, have identified her body at the City Mortuary in Nairobi. 

This comes after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), had on Thursday, stumbled upon the body believed to be that of Victoria, before inviting the family to recognize their kin.

Muloki’s family travelled to Nairobi to conduct further identification processes, including DNA profiling which emerged positive. 

An earlier Police report had erroneously indicated that Mumbua was found alive but unconscious in Migori. However, it later emerged that this was not the case, with her family saying they had not been notified.

“We found her unconscious near the embankment of Uriri dam and with serious injuries in both the head and hands,” police spokesperson Resila Onyango said on Monday.

The investigations opened up following intense interrogation with prime suspect Edwin Ng’etich, who was found with the deceased's stolen car.

Ng’etich was arrested in Nakuru while driving Muloki's motor vehicle. 

He opened up to detectives after intense questioning, and further reports indicate that he led police to the location where he dumped the body at a thicket within Mai Mahiu next to a road in Lari, Kiambu County.

Police were notified and it was brought to the City Mortuary, where it was booked on September 29, 2024, as an unknown body.

Meanwhile, records have revealed that Ng’etich has committed multiple homicides under similar circumstances in the past.

Muloki, a Mombasa-based taxi driver, went missing on Friday, September 27, after accepting a ride request from Mombasa to Samburu.

Meanwhile, police plan for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
