A 20-year-old man accused of inflicting deep cuts on his father’s forehead and right hand with an axe on 20th of this month at Parya village near Kapenguria town has pleaded guilty before a local law court.
Festus Toywa is said to have assaulted his father as he opposed his (father’) intention to sell some trees within their compound.
Appearing before Kapenguria Senior principal magistrate Bernard Ondego, Toywa admitted assaulting his father Lengareng Nyangapuo causing him actual bodily harm.
According to the prosecution, before attacking him, the accused uttered in Swahili , "Leo nakumaliza (today I will kill you)."
The court further heard that Lengareng was rescued by his wife.
However, the magistrate directed that his file be set aside to await a pre-sentencing report from the probation department.
Also, in the same court, two women were charged with being in possession of illicit brew, popularly known as chang'aa.
Aman Kor and Mercy Cherop were allegedly arrested with 20 litres and five litres of the outlawed brew and both pleaded guilty and asked the court for forgiveness, promising never to repeat the same offense.
The two were nabbed on Tuesday at Sakas village and Makutano town in West Pokot County.
They will be sentenced this Friday after the magistrate gets a pre-sentencing report from probation department.
