Gachagua offers to advice Faith Kipyegon on investment
By Peter Ochieng
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua (DP) is ready to swing into action, if called upon by athletes such as Faith Kipyegon.
Kipyegon is the 1,500m and 5,000m record holder, a feat she achieved in a span of one week during the Florance and Paris Diamond Leagues.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi on Tuesday, Gachagua said athletes such as Faith earn a lot of money at the height of their powers.
He however said it was unfortunate that most of them end up poor, after failing to invest prudently.
"Faith should you have a problem in knowing how you can invest what you are going to earn, I am available and a very prudent businessman. I can guide you around and make sure that you succeed," said the DP.
Kipyegon was accompanied by among others, African 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala.
"I want to ask Faith Kipyegon, Ferdinand Omanyala and all others to look for ways of investing," added the second in command.
At State House, Faith Kipyegon was awarded Sh5 million and a three bedroom house in Parkroad, Nairobi for breaking two world records.
Despite not finishing first in Italy or France, Omanyala walked home Sh2 million richer in government's appreciation to him for rulling Africa in the 100 race.
Faith Kipyegon, the two-time world and Olympic champion is guaranteed a handsome cash reward for her efforts, in the last two Diamond League races.
She will earn atleast Sh16 million for breaking two world records.
