Citizen TV Journalist Janet Mbugua has turned down an offer to be Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria's running mate in the Kiambu gubernatorial race.
The Gatundu South MP had a few weeks ago invited interested female individuals to apply for the position of Deputy Governor.
According to posts on his social media pages, Janet Mbugua emerged top among those that applied for the position.
Kuria has however indicated that the celebrated TV Journalist will not be taking up the position.

He named personal emergencies as the reason Janet Mbugua will not be her deputy ahead of the August 9 poll.
“I am shattered. After scoring the highest marks in the talent search for Kiambu Deputy Governor, Janet Mbugua will not be taking up the job due to unforeseen personal emergencies that she has to attend to in the immediate term,” Moses Kuria said in one of the posts on his official Twitter handle.
But despite the TV girl turning down the offer, the MP is optimistic she will still be of value to his administration – should he succeed in his gubernatorial quest.
“My administration will definitely find a way to benefit from @OfficialJMbugua experience and capacity in the future. I feel the loss. Janet is a huge inspiration for the youth, for professionals, for women and for young mothers of this country,” he said in another tweet.
Janet Mbugua was a leading anchor at Citizen TV prime time news, alongside Hussein Mohammed, now the Communication Director of William Samoei Ruto Presidential Campaign Secretariat.
She announced her retirement from the media industry after quitting Citizen TV.
With her decision not to take up the Deputy Governor position, Moses Kuria will now be forced back to the drawing board.
The vocal MP is seeking to vie for the seat on his Chama cha Kazi party. He will face off with a host of individuals among them former Governor William Kabogo of Tujibebe Wakenya Party and Kimani Wamatangi, who is seeking the governorship on a UDA ticket.
Current Governor James Nyoro will be defending the seat on the Jubilee party ticket, under the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.
