Khaligraph Jones and Otile Brown respond to critics saying that Kenyan artists are broke

By Edith O. Virginia Khaligraph Jones and Otile Brown separately took to their social media platforms to respond to critics saying that Kenyan artists are broke. Several criticisms have been streaming online comparing Kenyan artists to South African artists. Comedian Alex Mathenge alleged that Kenyan artists are broke and that is why we do not have a celebrity culture in the country. Well Khaligraph speaking in àn interview with a local daily said, Kenya is a better place for artists and it should be noted that Nigeria has a population that is more than 5 times more than that of Khaligraph says that South African industry cannot do what the Kenyan artists are doing. He also says Kenyans have a culture of demeaning our artists and according to him, it's not right. He said, “can I surprise you guys cause you all think you know so much sometimes......did you know that Kenyan artists are one of the most successful artists in Africa?” Otile Brown had earlier in the year shared via his social media how the South African entertainment industry is rich and majorly plays their music in almost any public space including transportation and restaurants. The debate started with one YouTuber who accused Kenyan artists of not knowing showbiz and running away from cameras.
