Baringo Central MP Joshua Kandie has encouraged parents to enroll their children in technical Institutions to acquire skills if they do not get the requisite grades to join university.
Mr Kandie was speaking at the national museum of Kenya grounds in Kabarnet on Friday when he handed over bursary cheques to various secondary schools and colleges within the constituency worth Sh 50 million.
The MP said there was hope for students who do not qualify for university as technical courses were marketable and one could end up self-employed hence earn a decent living.
"Parents and principals, please inform student that it is not the end of life if you don't qualify for university, there are many courses that one can take hence have a bright future," he emphasised.
Kandie also hinted that the Baringo technical training institute was due for an upgrade to a national polytechnic to boost its outlook and admit more students from across the country.
The legislature also added that foreign countries like Germany had job openings for technical skilled people.
Kandie disclosed that Baringo as a county was training over 100 youth in the German language to make it easier for them to seek employment in Germany.
The function was attended by principals and students from over 50 schools who collected their cheques.
