A middle-aged man has been arraigned before a Kabarnet court charged with threatening to kill a woman by shooting using arrows and stones.
David Kaptum who appeared on Monday before Senior Principal Magistrate (SPM) Purity Kosgei was accused of threatening to kill contrary to Section 223 (1) of the Penal code.
The charge sheet stated that on October 12, this year, at about 3am at a village in Bartabwa sub location, Baringo North sub county, Kaptum willfully and unlawfully threatened to kill Irene Kamok using arrows and stones.
He was also charged with creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace contrary to Section 95 (1) (b) of the Penal code.
When the charges were read to him, he denied neither threatening Irene nor causing breach of peace and use of abusive language besides demanding to have sex with her.
“Your honour, I did not threaten, demand to sleep with, nor used abusive language towards Irene. The accusations are just fabrications,” said the accused.
In her ruling, SPM Kosgei ordered that the accused be released on a Sh30, 000 bond with a surety of similar amount or a cash bail of Sh10,000.
The case will come up for mention on October 27 and hearing was fixed for November 08 when six witnesses are expected to testify.
