MP Jalang'o gives new directive to event organisers in Lang'ata
By Peter Ochieng
Lang'ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o has given a new directive to event organisers in his constituency.
The guideline, the radio presenter cum comedian turned politician said, seeks to ensure youth in Lang'ata get job opportunities whenever an event is hosted in the area.
"New Guideline," the first term legislature stated in a statement shared on social media.
"If you are hosting an event in Lang'ata venues and you dont give our young people a chance to work at your event, that event will not happen!"
"Carnivore, Uhuru Gardens, Nyayo stadium, and any other venue in Lang'ata, 50% of jobs must be for Lang'ata youth ama uende ufanye event kwenu (or you do that event wherever you are)," said the MP.
His post attracted varied reactions, with a majority of the people calling him out.
"Yaye, Jalas. These are private businesses, you can't dictate how and what they do. Ati events won't happen? Try and meet in court. The best thing you ought to do was to reject the Finance Bill which you unfortunately supported," said Asher Omondi.
Kennie Balo said, "Who will enlighten Jalas that Langata is not a comedy ground for spitting that useless statement."
Jalang'o was elected on the ODM party ticket in August, 2023.
