Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has set the record straight regarding a viral video showing her casting two votes in one ballot box, in what netizens have claimed to be rigging in the recently concluded UDA nominations.
Kihara was contesting the Naivasha UDA ticket against John Kihagi. Initially, Kihagi was announced the winner, but after review by the UDA disputes tribunal, Kihara was found to have won the contest by one vote.
Following Kihara’s victory, a video emerged online showing her casting two votes in one ballot box. The video elicited massive reactions with a section of netizens claiming that the one vote Kihara had won with was a result of her casting two votes in one box.
Speaking to a local publication, Kihara dismissed the claims, stating that she put two votes in one ballot box as a result of a mix up.
According to Kihara, the video is being pushed by her opponents who are keen on frustrating her re-election bid.

Meanwhile, Kihagi is yet to announce his next movei after the tribunal’s decision, but it is speculated that he could either appeal or contest for the seat as an independent candidate.
Naivasha constituency and the larger Nakuru County is believed to lean more towards UDA party and the Kenya Kwanza alliance, therefore candidates with the party’s tickets are considered to have a slight advantage compared to their opponents.
