The Public Service Commission has advertised for 700 job opportunities, under the State department for correctional services and the national treasury.
According to the PSC advert seen by
Nairobi Review, 400 persons will serve as probation officer II under the State department for correctional services, while 300 will be deployed as supply chain management officer II.
"Interested and qualified persons are required to make their applications online, through the commission website: www.publicservice.go.ke or jobs portal: www.psckjobs.go.ke so as to reach the commission on or before 25th April, 2022 (latest 5pm East African time)," states the advertisement.
The job opening in the governmnet comes at a time when reports indicate that more than a third of Kenya’s youth eligible for work have no jobs, as the government struggles to tackle the country’s unemployment challenge.
World Bank data does indicate that the country had the highest rate of youth joblessness in East Africa in 2015, with 17 per cent of all young people eligible for work lacking jobs.
Tanzania and Uganda had comparable rates of 5.5 per cent and 6.8 per cent of youth unemployment respectively.
