Revealed: Amount political parties will receive in the 2024/25 political parties fund

Ruling party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will get the lion's share in the 2024 /25 Financial year, political parties fund allocations.
UDA will bag a whooping Sh558 million followed by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which will bag itself Ksh. 298 million.
This is according to the latest estimates gazetted by Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu on Friday.
The notice announced the allocation to 48 political parties in line with the Political Parties (Funding) Regulations, 2019 and the Political Parties Act, 2011.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 23, 25, and 34 (b) of the Political Parties Act, 2011, and Regulation 6 (c) of the Political Parties (Funding) Regulations, 2019, the Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that the following forty-eight (48) political parties are eligible to receive funds from the Political Parties Fund (PPF) during the Financial Year 2024/2025,” the notice read in part.
UDA's latest share presents a 74% increase from the last financial year when ODM has recorded a 77% increase from it's gainings in the previous financial year.
The two parties which got the highest number of legislators in the previous elections, together commands a whooping 856 million which represents a significant increase from the previous allocation of Ksh.484 million from the Financial Year 2023/24.
The Jubilee party received the third largest share of Ksh.130 million, followed by Wiper (Ksh.69 million) and Democratic Action Party-Kenya (Ksh.30 million).
The Amani National Congress (ANC) affiliated with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi will get Ksh25 million, Kenya African National Union (KANU) will get Ksh23 million. Maendeleo Chap Chap, led by Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, will cash in Ksh12 million.
Martha Karua’s National Rainbow Coalition-Kenya (Narc-Kenya) will get Ksh7 million while Safina Party associated with Jimi Wanjigi will receive Ksh3 million.
According to the Political Parties Act, 95 per cent of the fund is disbursed according to the total number of votes secured by each party in the preceding General Election. 5 per cent will be allocated for administration expenses.
A party may, however, miss out on funding if it fails to secure at least 5 per cent of the total number of votes in the previous General Election.
The listed parties are expected to utilise the funds to bankroll their operations and activities during the indicated financial year.
According to the registrar, the funds will be disbursed on quarterly basis upon receipt from the National Treasury.
